My grandfather, my father and I have been her only owners, and she's been diligently maintained inside and out over the years. I hate to let her go, but we don't get enough use out of her to justify keeping as we're saving up to buy a home and build a family.
\n
\nMECHANICS
\nThe original Perkins diesel engine runs like new and religiously receives bi-annual oil changes despite very little use. She was rarely taken out of Lake Washington/Lake Union, barring the occasional trip to the San Juans, and we estimate she has well under 1500 engine hours in total (my grandpa barely used her for 15 years). The engine fires right up every time, cruises on the step at 6-7 knots, and the transmission is smooth and sound.
\n
\nSIZE/SPECS/BUILD
\n41' long with an 11' beam, a 60' mast, and 8' of draft with a 6' lead keel fin. She was built to be a race boat and sails like a dream (my dad upgraded to a 2021 41' sailing catamaran and attests that the Skylonda sails much faster/better).
\n
\nLIVEABOARD
\nThe cabin comfortably fits two to live aboard and sleeps up to eight adults. The bed in the V-Birth is 9' wide at the head, super comfy. Lots of cabinets and closet space. 6'4\" of head clearance in the cabin.
\n
\nThe exterior teak is sanded and varnished once a year, and the teak-covered interior has a few blemishes here and there, but generally glows with a gorgeous, classic aesthetic. The bilge is kept clean and dry with an automatic bilge pump and hatch access through the cabin floor.
\n
\nAMENITIES
\nTwo 20-gallon fresh water tanks below the teak floor
\n40-gallon deisel tank.
\nTons of storage throughout the boat
\nHot water w/ powerful, low-draw water heater
\nKitchen features an ice-box, sink, multiple pantries, drawers and a stove
\nTwo skylight hatches provide tons of natural light.
\nNo auto pilot.
\n
\nCONDITION
\nShe was hauled out for a hull inspection in the winter of 2021. The fiberglass hull had a half a dozen silver dollar-sized bubbles that were sanded out and refinished/repainted. The mast, shrouds and boot are all in sound, seaworthy condition (the mast stems through the head in the cabin and mounts to the bulkheads below deck, and the boot leaks slightly during heavy rains, but the water drops land in the head/shower bay where it drains into the bilge). She could use a new gel coat on the deck, but it works and otherwise she's in great working shape.
\n
\nTeak has been sanded and recoated with Total Boat Marine Wood Finish, the only product I've found that holds up in PNW weather and keeps the teak glowing.
\n
\nWinches all function smoothly and are kept well-greased.
\n
\nLines are three years old but still in great working condition.
\n
\nElectrical has been redone over the years and everything works great, but it is not technically \"done to code.\"
\n
\nThe propane stove works great but was very rarely used. It is also not technically made for a boat and should be replaced if you plan to cook a lot on the boat.
\n
\nThe head is fully functional with a sink, shower and pump toilet. The boat is fitted with a 10 gallon black water tank and pump-out at the marina can be scheduled based on your needs.
\n
\nSLIP
\nLocated next to the AMG building off Westlake Ave N in South Lake Union. It is not technically a live-aboard slip, but I lived there on-and off for two years with no issues from the landlord. It's a well-kept, gated and privately accessed dock that gets active in the summertime with a handful of other liveaboards nearby. The marina has a 3-year waitlist and it's a highly coveted location. Rent is /mo and includes fresh water and 30 amp shore power. The boat is currently set up with wifi and I'm happy to transfer the account to the new owner.
\n
\nSAILS GALORE
\nThe Skylonda comes with two working main sails, a jib and two Genoas, all in good shape and stored off the boat for winter every season. All rigging was replaced 3 years ago and is still perfectly sound.
\n
\nWe have tons more to say about the boat and TONS more photos of every feature to share, but it's too much to list so please just ask. I am in Seattle until 7/1 and happy to show the boat/slip at any time. Give me a shout!
\n
\nNOTE: I am out of town for until early-August, but my father (who previously owned the boat) is local and can show the boat to serious buyers only. If you have questions that can be answered without viewing, ask away. If you're still interested after your questions are answered, we can arrange a showing with my father.\n","original_price":"$23,000","price":26000,"year":1977,"size":41,"original_url":"https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/boa/d/seattle-newport-41-sailboat-s-lake/7797296089.html","createdAt":"2024-10-28T18:02:23.000Z","updatedAt":"2024-10-28T18:02:23.000Z","listAttrs":[{"id":9057668,"list_id":902756,"attr_name":"boat
